If any one has any information on KGPT please share it. Facility? Training? Estimated time to checkout? The city as a whole? Etc..

Thanks!

I did tech school which is at Keesler in Biloxi. I didn't like the area. All there is to do is a few casino's. They get good concerts occasionally but that was about it. I was there in '08 and Gulfport was still showing signs of Katrina. Don't know how much it's changed since then.

There is a new manager there so the place may have become a better place to train at. If you are from the gulf coast you should fit in. Very laid back. Lots of pattern traffic.

Julio19 I have a great friend who controls there. He was on this site for a while but haven't seen any activity lately from him. Pm me if you have any specific questions and I will talk to him.

GPT is a pretty basic Lvl 7. If it wasn't for the military practice approaches, it would be probably a 5. The area isn't bad, the people and food are great. Convenient location to beautiful beaches and water (Pensacola) and entertainment. THe beaches are nice in GPT, but the water is like lake water at best. Good location for fishing though. It's definitely on the up swing since Katrina. Lots of new businesses moving in as well as a minor league baseball team and stadium which will be nice. Hard to beat the cost of living...Next to table scraps for nice homes.
The facility has been going through some serious growing pains with 3 different managers and 5 different sups within 3 years. Training time varies anywhere from 1.25-2yrs. It's a new tower/tracon which is nice. Feel free to ask any questions.

They're still a level 7? I thought it was downgraded to a 6.

I have to help out a union rep buddy with some dealings with Ralph and Ron. I would love to talk about it, but can't.
