Congrats,

Wow, they were quick after the interview.

I am curious, isn't there a 'cost of living' for the high cost areas?

Good luck.

Received a TOL, but being a current fed employee, I'm a little apprehensive about giving them my HR info before receiving a firm offer. Do HR notify my current boss? Also, being in a high cost area, what are the chances of requesting an increase in salary due to housing costs?
Your salary quote on your TOL should include locality pay (mine did). I don't think they will notify your boss if you are in another agency. I would not say anything until you get a FOL and a start date.

Yes.

Salary with Locality pay is for 'cost of living' areas.

The difference being "Locality - Rest of US" is the standard Locality pay. Locality percentage increase is by state/city for higher cost areas.

Week 8 (almost 9)
Still dead quiet on my end since the one manager call - at this point not expecting any more calls. Maybe next year.

Hey ggnore, did you move into an atss spot or get a firm offer?

Any news from anyone else?

I have nothing.. The off time is letting me get stuff done around the house. Think i will sell even with no job offer..

I got a couple calls for interview, but only 1 actual interview. The other location called me back the same day and cancelled the interview, although he would not say exactly why, just that it was an "HR thing." Not sure what the hell that means. I interviewed with my 2nd choice and was sent a TOL which I accepted. Already had a secret clearance so now I'm just waiting on drug test/firm offer.

None of us use this forum anymore. Pretty active group on FB…
Which FB group? I didn't think of looking there. I found one, but it looks like it's more for people who are already a 2101 rather than those trying to get in.

I have a few friends that forwarded my resume to hiring managers. I have 8 years of ATC military experience and I was surprised at how little the FAA was interested in me. Not trying to be conceited, but I do have the experience. The most I got was a supervisor that liked my resume Call me. He basically told me to hold tight as he didn't actually hire people. All of my FAA friends said the system was broken and they had no advice.
One issue I had was that thre of the jobs I applied for were listed as needing help in Aviator, but the hiring manager confirmed it was wrong and they had not positions. When I asked HR how I could get my application to a different area, I was told that wasn't possible. Wish I didn't waste the three locations I didn't know about.

ATC experience or ATC related equipment maintenance experience? There’s a world of difference between those two.

If you have actual equipment maintenance experience, the problem could be whether or not you tailored your resume and/or KSAs to meet the qualifications as spelled out in the vacancy announcement. If you took a military bases resume and didn’t convert it to FAA lingo, you stand a good chance of being passed over.

Agree with everything SMS said above.

@JPR, if you are of military maintenance background PM me and I might be able to help tailor your resume for a more "FAA technician" version. If you are of military ATC background, I am of no help to you.
