lol... despite the general belief that she's the devil, she is a very good friend of mine and we still keep in contact, she's hasnt heard anything yet, were both waiting on the panels for 7 in september...
Whatever, I was always entertained by Ammo. We go way back to PUBNAT3, and she was the one who motivated me to start making calls to the places I wanted to go. If it weren't for Ammo (and LawnGnome), I doubt I would've done it -- and may not have made it to ZSE, which is exactly where I wanted to go.

I had a feeling that her silence after the recent panels meant that Vegas didn't come out for her, which is too bad. I hope that 7 works out better. She's one of the ones that I look forward to meeting in person someday, even though I'm a little afraid that she might beat me up just for fun. Tell her Ross says hi.

Speaking of people not getting selected... Rose, if you're passed over again for 7, my head might explode. Write a senator or something. I don't understand why you've drawn the short end of the stick so many times in a row. Yeah, OTS odds aren't great, but seriously, how unlucky can a person get? If you come by JFK, maybe I'll buy YOU the drink.

Just got off the phone with Jeremy Horwitz from Marketplace, a much bigger radio program than I realized (according to Wikipedia, it's got a weekly listener base of eight million). I head to Austin's local affiliate, KUT, this afternoon for an interview. Thankfully it'll be recorded and not live.

All the same, this unexpected publicity is somewhat intimidating. Anyone here have experience talking to the press? I don't expect these guys to pin me to a wall or anything, but I could use suggestions on how to not sound like an idiot.

truth, its why the people <3 Brett Favre! I used to be in radio/tv when I was younger, but it was all taped so not really the same as an interview... but: just know your info and be confident.. its easy... hell its like interviewing for a job.

i have had a lot of experience dealing with public speaking and things like that...

well buddy, its all about perception, when I was a sales manager for T-mobile, I told my guys when I was training them, even if you have no clue wtf you're saying, its HOW you say it that matters. It really is all about confidence and how you project yourself...

take like....uh..former pres george bush...he was totally full of shit 24/7 but he managed to come off sounding remotely intelligent....lol...i had to...

be yourself, remember not to curse and have fun with it...i think thats the biggest key, I used to have so much fun chatting it up with my customers, some I could be my crazy little self with, others I had to be more reserved etc...

Well, made it back. It was actually kind of cool. The local public radio station is set up at University of Texas, so they've got some nice studios down there that the guy showed me after when he picked up that I was into it.

The one I did it in was set up specifically for interviews, I think. It was two rooms, the studio and the, uh, main room, or whatever it's called. You noticed the soundproofing right when you walked in, going from a noisy hallway to absolute silence. There was a round table (carpeted, I guess for soundproofing too), with six mic stations around it, each one with a little digital display thing showing time and some other stuff that I didn't pay much attention to. And yeah, you just sit back, put on these headphones with ridiculously good sound quality, talk normally, and... that's it. A little less intimidating than I expected.

We talked for about twenty minutes or so. I'm pretty sure I came off like some bonehead who has no idea what he's getting himself into, which is actually pretty accurate. I don't know if the segment's about me specifically or if I'm part of a larger one on the JetBlue pass, but I think it's more the latter. I hope it is; at this point, I didn't have a lot to say about it because it's still in the planning stages.

They said it'd air about a week from tomorrow (Friday). I'll put up a link here to the web version of it when it's live for those who want to hear it.

Funny you should say that, my wife and I were talking about it. Say what you will about the kind of president that Dubya was, but I always thought he'd be an entertaining guy to be around. Seems like he'd be real easy to get along with.

Found a friend with Netflix and checked out Airline. Great show -- you could write volumes on the way flying affects human behavior. Add in a camera, and some people just get out of control. Hope to catch some of them over the weeks.

Well I'm in the Ft lauderdale area~ and you should love the terminal that Jetblue is in! ....not very big though but they do have some good eats!

Some ideas- Why don't you involve something about the airlines being "green" for recycling cans and papers and what not. My dad's friend actually started a recycling program there at FLL which was one of the first companies to do such- and you wouldn't believe the amount of waste created by thousands of flyers on a daily basis.

Maybe you can go off on tangents, where you can go in depth of what a "day" in the life of a stewardess, a gate agent, a ramp agent, or a pilot must endure for the millions of passengers to make it safely and efficiently to their destination.

I'll try to think of some more good ideas- but if your in this area for a reasonable amount of time- I'll come grab a beer with you at one of the joints, and give you a fresh t-shirt you could wear. Broward County - Airport

I'm all ears. What are the better places?

That's actually a pretty good idea. Would you mind giving me some more details on that, maybe a contact? You can PM if you'd like to keep it private.

Already on the drawing board. If things work out well, I'll be in touch with union reps, have an interview or two set up. We'll see what happens.

Yes, that'd be something tasteful to write about. For Penthouse.

-my dad use to know the owner of the business at the time. He thinks that maybe his son took it over but he doesn't recall. Here is their info: Waste Management and Recycling Programs for Airlines : Airport Recycling Specialists, Inc. They claim they were the 1st materials recovery facility at any airport... (and no i dont work for them) but it would be great if you could spread the "green" word and get other airports doing this as well. I am not familiar with how many other airports have a recycling program, but If you need more background I might be able to help.

Thanks for the info. Not sure how much or little I'll end up using, but either way, it's good to have.

Ugh. I've been planning flights for the past five plus hours... and I'm only through two weeks' worth.

I think by the end of this all I'm going to hate planes. For like three whole days.
