Been milking unemployment since I lost my job in march due to economic reasons. Been looking for a job until I got my ZHU information in late may/early june.

still waiting to get my academy date.

I manage the logistics and dispatching for a tanker trucking fleet. Basically, it's my job to make sure that gas stations in Western New York never run out of product. It's a niche job that's rather mundane when everything goes as planned, and quite stressful when they don't.

It's not a bad job; I enjoy being able to use my mind all day long (lots of decision making, mental math, and foresight required) but unfortunately it's a very small niche with no room for advancement beyond my current position.

Last year, I went searching for a more career oriented job which uses much of the same skill set, and decided to transition to ATC :)

Unemployed, renting my house in Georgia (couldn't sell without taking huge loss), and living with family until things kick off in Michigan.

I was a Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) at NZY, but i'm not going there. It would be great If you can get a job as a RPO at the facility that you want to go to. You'll be already familiar w/ their air spaces, maps and the instructors, I think that would help your training in the future if you do get hired by that ATC facility. You can check out the hiring website for RPO. Raytheon.com You'll have to fill out some application online. good luck!

A good job to check into is getting hired by whoever does the weather observations at your local airport. I hear the pay isn't bad, the job allows you the opportunity to study while you are waiting to do you next observation.

I am working on a bachelors in aviation mgt. and I work at a Starbucks. Its a fun job but hard to pay the bills. I can't complain though, I am in Michigan most people are fleeing the state to find work, its bad here!

Operations Coordinator for Mesaba (regional airlines for Northwest/Delta) at the MSP hub. We also handle Pinnacle, and some Comair, Skywest, Chautauqua, ASA, and someone else soon I think. I started loading bags, catering, de-ice, etc. The days can be cake, or crazy as hell. Either way I enjoy it, just not being a little pawn of some CEO playing stupid politics and cutting my pay and benefits. Delta is re-organizing us into a new ground handling company (Regional Elite Airline Services). I'm really hoping to get into ATC before that gets too far and I lose flight benefits.
Otherwise I'll probably try to get my dispatch license, scheduling, or something where I can top out above $11/hr. Would try to be a pilot if the outlook there wasn't so bad now.
Will probably start delivering pizzas again soon for bills and traveling money as a 2nd job in the meanwhile.

I think we should all be able to choose our own titles like Ben N Jerry's employees (US Firm). I think I saw "Aircraft Collision Avoidance Specialist" thrown around here a few times.

On that note,

I am currently helping run a locally owned skateboard shop. Best job Ive had thus far. And soon to be an unpaid laborer for the FAA.
