Looking to see if anyone has appealed a medical denial and how long it took to hear back. I submitted my appeal back in April and haven’t heard back yet, I was told it could take 6 months or longer which is crazy but then again everything takes forever with the FAA/government.

Did you guys submit a medical appeal for failing MMPI Tier 2 evaluation or is this a medical appeal related to something else? I submitted my Tier 2 appeal last month to HQ's and told to expect to hear something within a month or two.

Hi, if it's not too personal for you to speak on, why was your medical denied and what would make the FAA deny a person's medical part of the hiring process in general? Are there simple things that would get someone denied or is it usually something major?

Rochambeau, when was your medical denied? pre-hire or after you were already controlling? I'm guessing your medical appeal has nothing to do with the MMPI though, correct?

I had to file an appeal for prior anxiety meds. I had to get an updated psychological evaluation to show that I don't need to be on them anymore. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Submitting documents this week. Good luck everyone!

A bit off topic, but does anyone know how long a passed medical exam is valid for?

I'm waiting on adjudication of an appeal based off of a disqualification from 2 and a half years ago. Was found via Tier 2 to be "substance dependent". Lost my Aviators Class II medical. After going through a "HIMS like" process I regained my Class II medical back in November of 2017. Submitted final documentation for ATC Medical appeal back in the middle of August 2018. I'd assume it should be rather straight forward, hopefully, considering I have a current FAA Medical in good standing. Will provide updates.

Well I'm currently fighting appealing my medical diagnosis of having a personality disorder that the FAA labeled me as having lol FAA has to be one of the worst ran government agencies. They do so many things ass backwards and inefficient.

My medical information has been forwarded to an eye specialist. Anyone have this happen before?

If you don't mind me asking, why were you considered "substance dependent" ? Was it a DUI within a certain number of years?

Nope. No DUI, no MIP. It's literally from my naivete and being probably the one person to ever be 100% honest on my drinking habits during college. Big punch to the nuts and a very expense lesson.

N603NH I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Was honest in my tier 2 eval with the psychologist about my drinking in college, so just waiting on their appeal decision.

Any updates? It's been about 2 months since I submitted my medical appeal into FAA HQ after failing tier 2 with "personality disorder".

Heres my story,

I was hired back in 11/2007 - 5/2011. I started the rehiring process back in 9/2016, mean while I was and am working contract FCT as an ATC. I did not pass the MMPI, so I was referred to an MMPI Tier 2, live interview with a psychologist, which took place in 3/2017. In July 2017, I was contacted via letter and told that I was not fit for ATC medically due to Neurosis. I had to stop work at my tower. I reached out to a Dr. in Atlanta, he told my company not to let me go, but put me on leave. They approved this request. In August, I was cleared to go back to work as ATC at my FCT. I put in for an appeal to continue the hiring process. I requested an appeal in 8/2017. In 9/2018, I contacted the person in the FAA that I requested to submit my appeal and he told me that he no longer does that, he had been transferred and he never submitted my appeal. He suggested that I contact the Dr. in Atlanta medical, that got me back to work and requested that he submit my appeal. I talked to the Dr., he reviewed my file, found that the psychologist had fabricated some stories against me. I provided proof to submit in my file. The Dr. retired in 2/19. I found out 2 days ago, that my file had finally been submitted in 5/19 and that my file was still under review in DC. Do you have any feed back for me? Mean while like I said, I have been getting my Class 2 every year with no problems and am still currently working in a FCT. Thank you.
