$42, 300, but it depends if you facility has a locality or not. Either way you will be at AG pay equal to your facility.

Just curious, where does that number come from. I looked at the SM pay scale and there is no AG band on the 2012 chart. Was this an omission on SM's pay or a new scale that just hasn't been posted. And how does locality effect base pay while at the academy?

It just got chopped off on the bottom whoever posted it, but It is what I posted.

As for the locality question the official form with the payscales is a spreadsheet that has different locations that tell you what the locality % is.

Like Sacramento is 22.20% Locality.. etc. I don't have a copy of the 2012 chart with me.

It'll be somewhere in the bottom of your facility's payband. I started at the top of D1 when I got to my facility.

2012 AG was just cut off....same as 2011 but CTI and VRA get paid different salaries at OKC
This is 100% Correct the 2011 and 2012 AG pay is the same at $42,319. This is what VRA makes at the academy.

CTI makes like $17k and some change.

As a VRA when you get to you facility you get bumped to D1 pay and if your facility doesn't have D1 then you get bumped to D2.

CTI goes to AG pay once they graduate the Academy.

I'm guessing when you say AG pay is $42k that's with the min 14.18% added to locality pay is cuz the pay chart says $37k and then it obv could be higher depending if the facility you go to has a higher locality percentage.

That's great to hear! I wasn't aware of the pay differences for VRA...thanks for the info.

Correct, the minimum locality anywhere is 14.18% so the Min you will make is $42K. It could be higher if you are heading to a facility with more than the 14.18%.

Another HUGE benefit that people forget about, that I'm looking forward to is the amount of leave you earn per paycheck. ALL your military or any other federal service time counts toward how many hours of vacation you earn per pay check.

Less than 3 years = 4hrs per pay period or 13 Vacation days per year.
3yrs - 15yrs = 6hrs per pay period or 20 Vacations days per year.
15yrs + = 8hrs per pay period or 26 Vacations days per year.

EVERYONE gets 13 Sick days per year.

So take someone that did 9 years in the Air Force. They will earn 20 Vacations days + 13 Sick Days per year starting. In 6 more years they will be earning the max leave!

Your basic pay will be $37,070. Your adjusted basic pay will be $42,319 per annum, which includes 14.16% locality pay

If you are somewhere where locality pay is higher, then replace the "42,319 and the 14.16 with the appropriate numbers."--you can find said numbers here

now, at OKC; you'll be getting $90.20 per diem. however, only $41.60 of this is for meals. if you want to use the travel card and not worry about paying for lodging, that $41.60 is all you'll get. if you want to pay upfront, and wait until your travel claim money comes back to reimburse you for lodging, then you will get the $90.20--minus the lodging fees to wherever you're choosing to stay--to pocket.

knowing that, you will get 90.20 per day, which is $32,923 per year. add that to your per annum base pay of $42,319; and you have a total of $75,242 per year. BUT, the base pay is taxable, the per diem isn't. If you are filing head of household, then you'll have to take away the 15% tax from the base pay. i'll round up to 16% just cause i like doing that.

This leaves you with 42,319 - .16x42,319 = $35,547.96 after taxes base pay + $32,923 in per diem each year. add this together and we have a total of about $68,470 per year. this will equate to about $5,705 per month in pay while you're at OKC.

I think that might be a tad better than the CTI guys.

I can take criticism very well, if anyone finds a flaw in my post, lemme know.
