Q's about Mt. SAC CTI. or Sac CC Career change

Hi guys, I am new here and I am considering a career as a air traffic controller.

I am from the San Francisco Bay Area, aged 22 and about to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering this June. Afraid that I will have trouble finding a job (seeing that I have no internship experience at all), I am considering on following the CTI route for the hell of it. I have always wanted to be a pilot, but that was too expensive and my parents shot that down from the get go, so the next best thing is becoming an ATC right?

Mt. San Antonio is the only CTI school in California. Some of my questions are:

1. How fast can I finish the CTI program? 1 year? If it matters, I am at a small private university on the quarter system, how will that affect the transfer credits seeing that Mt. San An is a public school and follows the semester system?

2. How much will it cost?

3. How is the program there?

4. Anyone looking to hire an entry level Mechanical Engineer? Willing to relocate.

I swear I had more questions, but I can't seem to think of them at the moment. If anything, I will ask more later. Thanks.

Edit: Same questions apply to Sacramento City College.

Hello,

I'm looking at Mt. Sac as well. I'm graduating this spring with a degree in political science but decided that law school wasn't what I really wanted. From what I've read on here, it would be possible to do it in a year. With you being a Cali resident it would be way cheap too. I'm calling the CTI Coordinator there next week, I'll send you a message and let you know what I find out.

Thanks! I plan to contact the admissions office soon. I really hope all my classes and transfer so that all I'd need are the degree specific courses.
