I know this thread isn't active, but thought I'd ask a specific question in regards to SLC and visuals.
If SLC is in North Ops and IFR traffic is coming from LHO or BEARR arrivals, TRACON advises to expect vectors to the visual 34R, and traffic is light, can the IFR aircraft be cleared for the visual NORTH of the airport? Say 3-5NM North and above 10k if the pilot calls the field in site?
A debate among some pilot friends of mine and I can't seem to find a clear answer in the .65's., nor in any of the forums here about visuals.
Since I'm here in SLC, thought I'd ask in this thread first since it's more S56 specified.
