Cool place. Don't put all your marbles into just that. I work for SERCO and if your young and fresh out the military you get what they have. Alaska and Wyoming are hurting. A lot of controllers suck it up for the year and some change then apply internally. Every job opening we post we get about 20 resumes. Also if your still at China Lake you better be able to be at whatever facility they offer within 3 to 4 weeks.
SBP Has a pretty high turnover rate, they used to be PATCO union, but not anymore. The manager there is relatively new, hes a cool guy, better then most. They have alot of IFR days. It gets pretty busy sometimes. They do a few scheduled air carrier ops and alot of things like TBMs and PC12s, rich people that fly to work and take their families on vacations. The city is actually really nice a "medium" size college town, but not a party college, its more of a nerd college. Housing though is absolutely ridiculous, even for California. It I ever took a spot out there I would buy a 5th wheel or something and try to live at a campgrounds or RV park or something. Unless you are somehow tied to California, I highly suggest not working for SERCO, not that its a super terrible company or anything, its just the pay you get for the cost of living of California just does not add up.
You can get roughly equal pay with RVA with about a 50% lower cost of living "depending on location". So essentially like giving yourself a 50% raise.
