Up/Down Training Questions

I tried a couple of searches but I really couldn't find the answers I am looking for. I suppose I could make the call to HR but who really likes doing that? I'll just rely on the geniuses that troll stuckmic!

I've heard of a couple of different scenarios for up/down training. One example is training for either tower or tracon in OKC, and once you reach a certain point at your facility, they send you back for the other position.

Another example is even though your facility is an up/down, you will only work one or the other. For example, my friend is headed to Philly, even though they are an up/down, he is tracon only and will not work in the tower.

Is any of this info accurate? And is there a scenario where you stay in OKC and train for both the tower and radar in one visit? Thanks

Typically you will go thru tower cab training first, then go back to the academy for radar. If your facility is an up/down then you rotate around the cab and radar usually. I'm not sure about philly, they were talking about splitting that facility like orlando. Not sure if it has happened. If they are split then yes, you will only work in the tower or radar, which ever you get assigned to.

Thanks for the info ross. That's pretty consistent with what I've been hearing through the grapevine. But even the grapevine is unpredictable!

CRP you will work both up and down. Im at work right now with a guy that use to work CRP, I'll let you know in a little while. I assume you're wanting to know about CRP, right?
Nick your like my main source of info on CRP! If your guy is able to give you an idea of how they do training that would be great. From a devs point of view I think it makes the most cents to do one at time. I was just curious. Going back to OKC seems as if it would be like going to a high school prom as a 27 year old.

Talked to the guy...it's basically like Ross said. You train in the tower first, get checked out, then go to RTF and train in radar. He said "they really don't wash people out of corpus". He was there for 7 years and he said he only saw one washout - and that guy was really bad.
